The best food festivals across the UK for 2019 - from London's Meatopia to the Big Feastival in the Cotswolds

When you think of festivals, you normally conjure up images of mud and wellies, right? But we beg to differ.

With the nation's growing obsession around pop up food spots, food festivals are getting bigger and better each year, with new ones popping up all the time.

On the whole they're more munch than mud, and each food festival has something different to offer avid foodies - there's literally a food festival for everyone.

Some like The Big Feastival come with the added bonus of live bands and entertainment, while others like Taste of London concentrating solely on the grub.

We've put together a huge list of our favourite food festivals around the country, so you can find the best one near you.

Big Feastival, Cotswolds

The Big Feastival attracts a big crowd every year (The Big Feastival)

The Big Feastival is the brain child of Blur bassist, Alex James. So you can expect a festival curated by this music mad foodie to be pretty good.

This year's acts include Jess Glynne, Elbow, Lewis Capaldi, Jade Bird, The Zutons and more. There are appearances from incredible chefs such as Mark Hix, Candice Brown, DJ BBQ, Anna Haugh and more, find food from the The Collaboration Kitchen, The Cheese Bar's Fondue Supper Club, and more too

When is it? 23 - 25 August

Meatopia

Meatopia is a great day out for all meat fans (Meatopia)

This is not a food festival for vegetarians. Seriously, we're not joking. The clue is in the name.

Meatopia is all about the meat, and only the meat. The old Tobacco Dock is full of BBQ coals steadily burning to roast their prime cuts (we can already smell it), and bars stocked with the best ales, wines and spirits to wash it down. This is one event that is not for the faint-hearted.

Alongside this meaty excess will be live bands, butchery demos, workshops, art installations, and even some live theatre.

Bands and vendors haven't been released yet; but now in it's sixth year, Meatopia is going from strength to strength, so we promise it's going to be good.

When is it? 30 August - 1 September

Taste of London

Taste of London is one of the most popular and largest food events in the UK, and with many world leading chefs flocking to the capital it's not hard to see why.

This year, Melissa Hemsley, Tom Aikens, Sean Marsh, Yotam Ottenghi, Sabrina Ghayour and more are just some of the names heading down to Regent's Park. Some of the finest of the capital's resteraunts will be featured and many artisan producers will be showcasing their wares. We can't wait to check out Club Mexicana, Flesh and Buns and Bao's menus.
