Easter Sunday is just three weeks away, and if you’ve given up chocolate for Lent, there will be plenty to choose from on April 17. We’ve tested a selection of supermarket and luxury Easter products - from Lindt bunny dupes , to eggs said to feed 17 people.
Asda, Aldi and Morrisons have all launched some fabulous and exclusive additions to their Easter range, with Cadbury’s bringing out new flavours like their Hot Cross Bun chocolate.

Here are the best Easter eggs of 2022 - tried and tested.
Asda
Asda have launched a selection of extra special eggs that weigh the same as a football. The 400g eggs are packed full of chocolate encased treats, from pretzel pieces to dried raspberries.
The eggs in the extra special range cost £6 each, and offer a thick chocolate shell embedded with crunchy treats.
The extra thick honeycomb, pretzel and almond egg is my favourite from the range, coating pretzel and almond with caramel infused milk chocolate.
The range also sees a white chocolate egg with raspberries and marshmallows, and an extra special peppermint and cocoa nib egg with dark chocolate.
Morrisons
Morrisons has stunned shoppers with an Easter release that looks just like a doughnut - but it’s actually toffee flavoured chocolate. Not to mention, it’s the size of my head.
But for me, the best of the bunch is Leo the Lion Cub - the cutest moulded chocolate treat made with toffee flavoured white and milk chocolate, with dark chocolate decorations on the eyes and nose.

The fur looks so intricate - he’s almost too realistic to eat, and kids will love him this Spring.
The supermarket has also launched a range of ‘best Belgian chocolate’ Easter eggs, in mlk, white and dark chocolate that have all been colourfully decorated.
Tesco
More than 200 Easter eggs have been launched at Tesco this year, with highlights including Kit Kat Biscoff Giant Egg, Lindt Salted Caramel Egg, Cadbury Chocolate Fingers Egg and for those who love the discarded Celebration’s - a Bounty Giant Chocolate Egg.
The Cadbury Chocolate Fingers XL Egg is a whopping 547g of chocolate, priced at £12, and is said to offer 17 servings.
Unconvinced, I put it to the test, finding that, with the three bags of mini Cadbury’s Fingers also included, you really can split it into 17 decent sized portions - unlike my attempt at cutting Colin the Caterpillar into 40.
This has been the egg I’ve kept dipping back into whenever I needed something sweet to curb my sugar cravings - so it gets a 10/10 from me.
Lindt
To celebrate turning 70 years old, Lindt Chocolate shops are offering an exclusive 500g Lindt gold bunny in a recyclable card carrier for £20.00.
It’s not the first time the chocolate brand has launched a limited edition or special gold bunny, having released white, dark and hazelnut bunnies each with their own coloured ribbon.

In 2015, Lindt released a special edition Lindt gold bunny wrapped in leopard and zebra print foil. These were followed by other limited-edition prints showcasing flowers.
The huge bunny is a real showstopper and would make a wonderful prize to finish an Easter egg hunt.
NOMO
NOMO has launched their first ever children’s Easter egg which is gluten, dairy, egg and nut free, making it suitable for vegans, too.
The free-from creamy chocolate egg comes with a monster lolly, which is part of NOMO’s Kids Nomsters range, which is available in Sainsbury’s and Tesco stores.
As my niece and nephew both have dairy allergies, this is one of few products on the Easter market that they can enjoy safely.

The childrens’ egg sees three characters ‘Mo, Jo and Flo’ with their own chocolate egg and chocolate lolly, as well as six activities such as colouring in, jokes and puzzles inside the box.
The egg comes in at £3 and it’s ideal for small children, with adult vegan and free-from eggs also available in the range.
Guylian
Guylian are best known for their Belgian chocolate and hazelnut praline sea shells, but this year, they’ve also released a cracking milk chocolate egg.
The luxurious product is £8 in Sainsbury’s, which buys you a large chocolate egg and a box of 11 of their signature chocolates.
Each Guylian Chocolate is marked with the Guylian G, and marbled with white chocolate, so no two ever look the same.
The chocolate egg is smooth, creamy, and a little taste of luxury for Easter.
Aldi
Budget German retailer Ald has launched their own Moser Roth chocolate line exclusive to the store, featuring Lindt bunny dupes and a half and half luxury egg.
They stocked the first ruby chocolate egg I’ve seen in supermarkets this year, costing £2.99 for a 120g egg.
The pink chocolate egg is rather angular, sold as a ‘geometric’ egg, which is very trendy, with a silver lustre decoration.
Ruby chocolate is still a relatively new variant of chocolate, introduced in 2017, and has a tart berry-like flavour, despite not containing any berries.
Affordable, Instagrammable and delicious, this pink chocolate egg earns a thumbs up from me.
Cadbury's
The iconic Cadbury’s Mini Eggs have had a revamp and are now available in bar form. For £1 from Morrisons, the 110g bar sees 24 chunks of classic Cadbury’s chocolate with crushed up Mini Eggs sprinkled through.
It had the classic Mini Egg taste, but as though the textures were reversed, with chocolate on the outside and the crunch in the middle.
Of all the Cadbury’s treats I’ve tried this Spring , this was definitely the best.
