The best dressed stars at the 2022 Grammy Awards

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards saw music industry movers and shakers descend upon the Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena last night in traditionally stand-out style.

The cool-girls came wearing Versace, led by Donatella Versace herself who arrived on the red carpet in a sparkle green mini dress with padded shoulders and a sheer corset of her own design. She kitted out the likes of Dua Lipa, who wore a sleek black dress decked in bondage straps and bulky gold jewellery, and Petra Collins who opted for an iridescent sequined gown from the Resort 2022 collection.

However, the evening’s top trend was lurid hot pink. It was spearheaded by Billy Porter and rapper Saweetie, who both wore neon looks plucked from the Valentino Autumn 2022 collection, which creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli sent down the runway in half pink-half black at fashion week last month.

Also thinking pink was Chrissy Teigen, who arrived with John Legend in a candy shade Nicole + Felicia couture ballroom skirted dress, complete with cinched waist and ruffled strapless top. St Vincent was striking in a metallic pink lamé Gucci frock, which came with a frothy neon pink hem from the Spring 2022 collection, while Justin Bieber added flair to his oversize grey Balenciaga suit and platform Crocs with a fluro-pink knitted hat.

Others eschewed new catwalk pieces for vintage looks from top designers. SZA stood out in a floral fronted, nude tulle dress with long train designed by Jean Paul Gaultier for his Spring 2006 collection, while Laverne Cox sourced an archive John Galliano sheer black dress with embroidered flourishes first shown for Autumn 2007.

Fronting the best dressed boys was Lil Nas X, who cut a glowing figure in a brilliant white, ornate pearl emblazoned jacket and matching trousers by Balmain. For a splash of colour, a bright butterfly motif came on his front, sleeves and back, and he grounded the style with coordinating white platform boots.

Elsewhere, Giveon gave a rarely seen menswear look by Chanel a spin, and looked dapper in the black tweed jacket and trousers worn with a simple black t-shirt and diamond necklaces. Jon Batiste, who was the biggest winner of the night taking home five awards including Album Of The Year, stood out in a lemon and silver diamond sequin suit by Dolce & Gabbana.

Olivia Rodrigo will also have gone home happy having snagged three awards including Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album. For her big night, she looked statuesque in a black satin, pink crystal encrusted corset dress by Vivienne Westwood, which she dressed up with black opera gloves and chunky pink Swarovski jewels. And joining her in a striking black look was Billie Eilish, who opted for Rick Owens’ Autumn 2022 deconstructed coat look to stand out from the crowd.
