How the Grinch Stole Christmas
From director Ron Howard comes this retelling of Dr Seuss’ classic tale. It stars Jim Carrey as the mean-spirited Grinch, who harbours a deep hatred for Christmas and ruins the festive season for the town of Whoville.
But after having her life saved by the fuzzy green creature, little Cindy Lou Who embarks on a mission that could just about melt his cold heart.
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol
Charles Dickens’ ageless legend is reborn in this supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story. With his very soul on the line, Scrooge (voiced by Luke Evans) has but one Christmas Eve left to face his past and build a better future. Featuring re-imagined songs from Oscar-winning British composer Leslie Bricusse, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is one for a new generation to sing.
Also starring Oscar winner Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckly, alongside Jonathan Pryce as Jacob Marley.
Falling for Christmas
Falling for Christmas stars Lindsay L ohan as a newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress who suffers from amnesia after getting into a skiing accident. She finds herself in the care of handsome, blue-collar lodge owner Jake (Glee star Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.
The film marks Lohan’s first major role in more than a decade, with the actress describing the film as a “really fun, uplifting romantic comedy” in an interview with Vogue.
Klaus
In this animated comedy, Jesper (Jason Schwartzman) distinguishes himself as the postal academy’s worst student, and ends up stationed on a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where the feuding locals hardly exchange words let alone letters. Jesper is about to give up when he finds an ally in local teacher Alva (Rashida Jones), and discovers Klaus (J.K. Simmons), a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys.
These unlikely friendships return laughter to Smeerensburg, forging a new legacy of generous neighbours, magical lore and stockings hung by the chimney with care. An animated holiday comedy directed by Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos, KLAUS co-stars Joan Cusack, Will Sasso and Norm Macdonald.
The Christmas Chronicles
This festive comedy tells the story of brother and sister, Teddy (Judah Lewis) and Kate Pierce (Darby Camp), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas.
As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it’s too late. From producer Chris Columbus (Home Alone, Harry Potter) and director Clay Kaytis (The Angry Birds Movie), a sequel to this holiday adventure – The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two – is also available on Netflix.
Christmas on Mistletoe Farm
From writer and director of the Nativity! films, Debbie Isitt, comes this feel-good family comedy, which tells the story of Matt Cunningham (Scott Garnham), a widowed father who moves with his family to a village where he inherits a farm.
Matt finds it hard to adjust to village life, but his kids, on the other hand, are having the time of their lives. The kids then hatch up a plan to keep their family in the village, forever.
