While Cabo San Lucas is known for its over-the-top resorts, sometimes you need something more low-key, but with all the amenities and services of the bigger hotels. These eight boutique hotels deliver on all the luxury you can imagine, alongside customized service that matches your particular travel style.

Designed by Mexico City architect Javier Sanchez, each room at this exclusive Thompson hotel has a view of the iconic El Arco, along with a private balcony and hanging daybed, a freestanding copper tub and a craft cocktail bar. Interior decor at The Cape is by Marisabel Gómez Vázquez, one of Mexico’s most creative designers in the hotel space. The aesthetic, indoor and out, is as if coastal Baja and California had never been separated into discrete countries. There are also two pools and spa cabanas, and the only rooftop lounge in town makes this a prime destination for those who seek world-class service in a most serene environment.
Chileno Bay Resort & Residences

One of the newest properties in Cabo, Chileno Bay Resort & Residences is set on its tranquil namesake (Chileno Bay), with rooms and suites designed to create an indoor-outdoor ambiance. Splurge on a villa if you can—these range from one to four bedrooms, and all have a full kitchen; most have a private pool or Jacuzzi. Brisa del Mar, a two-story, six-bedroom private beachfront home that comes with a personal butler and a private pool, offers a singular experience of Chileno Bay.
Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa

This all-suite property has all the amenities of a large resort while offering personalized service more akin to a boutique hotel. Suites range in size from 737 square feet to 1,248 square feet, all with full kitchens and dining ares. And for the vacation of a lifetime, there’s also a four-bedroom penthouse with a 6,232-square-foot suite, five bathrooms and a beachfront private pool with an adjoining Jacuzzi.

This architecturally low-profile resort on Santa Maria Bay has rooms that face the water with floor-to-ceiling windows pointed. Suites at Montage Los Cabos are a huge 1,645 square feet, decorated in minimalist style in natural woods and ocean- and desert-toned fabrics. The spa is one of the best in Cabo, a destination for its signature wellness journeys. On-site activities include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and paddleboarding.

Considered Cabo’s “grande dame,” this over-the-top luxury resort is what the doctor ordered for complete relaxation. Situated on a private peninsula where stark desert meets cool sea, the One&Only has accommodations ranging from one room to entire villas. Suites at the One&Only Palmilla have separate living and dining spaces that open onto private patios, and casita suites have private infinity pools. Some of the best dining in Cabo can also be found here at four restaurants in partnership with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

Accessible by way of Mexico’s only privately owned tunnel, The Resort at Pedregal is a hideaway with luxury rooms, amenities and service. Fresh guacamole is delivered to your room daily, a perfect accompaniment to the bottle of tequila you’ll also find waiting for you. The personal concierge service here is especially customized and helpful. Even the smallest rooms come in at a generous 856 square feet.

Solaz (a Marriott property) has floor plans designed for indoor-outdoor living, with cool marble floors, luxury bedding and custom-designed contemporary furniture. Many rooms and suites have furnished patios and outdoor showers. There are two infinity pools and two heated pools expressly for kids, making this a fantastic family vacation choice. It is situated perfectly for exploring nearby Chileno Bay and other local adventures.

Another classic Cabo destination, Las Ventanas is a Rosewood resort that offers superb service in a serene setting. A total of 84 rooms and suites have hand-carved Mexican artwork, traditional tile floors and an adobe fireplace. Even the 960-square-foot junior suites open onto 300-square-foot private patios. At the other end of the spectrum, the three-bedroom signature villa is 8,200 square feet and has a state-of-the-art kitchen, perfect for groups of friends or families traveling together.
