While many of you have been pranking your friends for April Fool’s Day, businesses and brands have been at it too - advertising fake products or services on Tuesday.
Emirates, and Subway are among the companies to have got involved in the fun, while celebrities have posted bogus endorsements. Look out as well for made-up stories, providing a more innocent take on the concept of fake news.

We’ve had a quick nosey through some of the best and worst attempts at raising a smile in 2025.
None were perhaps up to the standard of the spaghetti harvest or the remote control touring car, but they were at least a step up from Andy Murray’s joke in 2014 that was so unfunny that nobody noticed.
We’ve ranked them into categories of being slightly believable, a big stretch and totally abused.

No bad vibes
With an air of authenticity comes a statement from Labour MP Dawn Butler announcing she has taken a new government role... for “good vibes and authenticity”.
Critics might suggest it is the nearest she will ever get to the frontbench.
Christmas comes early at The Range
The commercialisation of Christmas has maxed out to the point that The Range launched its festive range on April 1, or so the homeware brand has advertised.
The jibe might be glanced at with nothing more than an eye roll by cynics who feel the season practically never ends as it is…
A big stretch
Introducing our new service for VIPs - Very Important Parcels.📦🤩
— Emirates (@emirates) April 1, 2025
Breaking the boundaries of commercial airline models, this new service provides door-to-door delivery with the same level of care that Emirates provides to all its other passengers. pic.twitter.com/84Ech5QA9i
Emirates parcels service
Getting an upgrade on Fly Emirates might be that much harder if the airline goes ahead with its plan to introduce a VIP service for parcel delivery.
Your package will be taken care of with a luxury chair, complimentary glass of champagne and access to a range of films - as per the advert.
How stupid do you think we are?
World-first Pineapple Flavoured Eggs coming to supermarkets

Dole Sunshine Company is launching the world-first Pineapple Flavoured Eggs, which will be avaliable in supermarkets from today. pic.twitter.com/CoyKD23fZ6
Pineapple eggs
Pineapple on pizza might sound like a joke to some already, so perhaps Dole has jumped the shark with its offer of eggs enthused with the fruit flavour.
Not buying it, in either sense.
Plank and Dec
One of TV’s most enduring double acts had a hard time selling their new venture into decking considering for the past 30 years they’ve been pranking people on TV.
Then again, Plank and Dec is more believable than their other recent Santander ad that saw them try their hand at banking.
