The beautiful £1m dream home hidden in Welsh village with a secret cellar and garden cottage

If the new owners of Wrexham Football Club, Hollywood movie star Ryan Reynolds and TV star, writer and actor Rob McElhenney, fancied buying a posh pad not too far from the club's famous ground, The Racecourse, this absolute stunner can surely compete with any dream home Stateside.

Called Burton House, the pretty property is a Victorian mansion that nestles within the leafy street of the village of Gresford, just a couple of miles north of Wrexham. The house can flaw you with its beautiful exterior and then take your breath away with stunning interiors that ooze sophistication and elegance.

And it's a posh start to the property tour that would surely impress either actors from across the pond, with a stone pillared gated entrance off a private lane announcing your arrival into an island of tranquillity within the grounds of the house.

Although the garden is a well-stocked collection of mature planting, it is definitely an outside space that promotes social gatherings and parties, with numerous alfresco dining areas, patios and terraces to choose from.

There is room for a swimming pool to be constructed and the site has a secret bonus if any of the acting duo's Hollywood buddies want to come over to wonderful Wales, (and why wouldn't they?) - there's a characterful mews cottage for them to stay in that includes a spacious lounge with fireplace, kitchen, dining room that leads into a garden room, a bathroom and two bedrooms.

Back into the main house and the tour starts at the very bottom - the hidden cellar. This space is currently a dedicated gym but it could easily become a cool games and media room, underground and pretty soundproof so the boys can watch any Wrexham match and loudly shout their approval when the ball hits the back of the net, or strongly disagree with the referee without the neighbours hearing.

From the moment you step inside the Victorian villa through the arched front door, the anticipation that something stunning awaits you that has been building since seeing the attractive and charming facade is rewarded - inside is gorgeous.

From the intricate metal spindles of the staircase to the wall panelling and fireplaces - the character is here and are complemented perfectly by tasteful and timeless interiors that are lavished on this comfortable and welcoming abode.

The ground floor can offer two main reception rooms either side of the central hall, both with a fireplace, plush decor and statement furniture, and both can boast a big bay window looking out over the private front garden.

Move through the hall to the rear of the house and there's a handy cloakroom and utility room, but the main event in this area is the dining room that is the hub of the home, with country-style furniture, pretty wallpaper and a humungous Welsh dresser hugging one wall.

But maybe the most noticeable feature in this room is the huge log burner nestled in the fireplace that surely throws out enough heat to warm this space to sweltering level.

No problem with that though as this beautiful room, that has surely hosted many beautiful family and friends gatherings, has French doors that open directly out onto the mature and manicured garden that surrounds this amazing home.

The house then flows into the kitchen breakfast room, either via the dining room or through maybe the poshest pantry in the area which has colour toned woodwork, walls, units and panelling combining to make it a mini star of this marvellous mansion.

The kitchen is, as you have come to surely expect from this dream home by now, a bit of a stunner, with pretty wallpaper as a backdrop to the classic Shaker-style kitchen with tradition at its core - from the four oven, gas-fired Aga tucked into the chimney breast, to the pots and pans hanging from ceiling.

But this is not a cooking space from the past, it can boast all the contemporary appliances a dream home either here or in Hollywood should have too.

The breakfast area offers a splash of classic design from the 1950s with the addition of a set of white and blue tulip chairs at the table which complement via colour the bespoke hand-painted Farrow and Ball kitchen cabinets but provide a design contrast from a different era.

The room is flooded with light from the substantial roof lantern not accidentally placed above the large and lovely island unit and breakfast bar, and also from the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that lead out onto the most charming of Wysteria laden verandas.

The attractive foliage wanders from the veranda across the front facade of the house to continue the attractive appeal of this period property thought to date back to around 1870.

From kitchen to dining to relaxing under the foliage canopy of the veranda in a few steps offers a seamless transition from inside to outside, and so arguably this room now steals the crown of the hub of the home from the adjacent dining room.

There'll be no argument upstairs though as across two floors the five bedrooms all offer beautiful spaces to call your special slumber zone.

The first floor has two bedrooms at the front that can both enjoy a bay window as they are positioned above the two sitting rooms below, and both can happily offer you an ensuite and four-poster bed that makes it feel like you're staying at a five-star boutique hotel.

Cocooned in the most tasteful interior design that offers a touch of traditional with timeless country-inspired patterns and nature based colours, the bedrooms continue the high standard of decor that the ground floor first established.

There's an extra family bathroom on this floor before the final flight of stairs gets you up to the principal bedroom suite. Where once the servants would have slept, the loft conversion has dedicated its whole available space to creating a crowning glory at the top of this dream home.

The bedroom is flooded with light from multiple windows, one of which is on the same level as the pillow so you can peer out over the garden without moving a muscle, and when you do eventually decide to get up the oak flooring will give your bare feet a warm welcome.

The ensuite next door is a spacious room that continues the luxury standard of interior design with luxury tiling. Maybe the standout feature in here is the double, walk-in shower with thermostatic drench head or maybe it's the splash of colour that adds visual interest via the reclaimed wood base units.

In the area, there are glorious Welsh landscapes to explore as well as local recreational facilities including sailing at Gresford Sailing Club and golf at Wrexham Golf Club as well, of course, football at The Racecourse.

The dream home near Wrexham is for sale with a guide price of £1.1m (that's currently about $1.25m for Ryan or Rob) with estate agents Fisher German, call their Chester branch on to find out more.
