The Bay viewers gobsmacked as 'unrecognisable' Emmerdale star appears in ITV show

The Bay viewers have been left shocked after spotting Emmerdale actor Robert Beck in the latest episode of the ITV drama.

Fans tuning into last night's episode of the show saw more unfold about the night of the housefire in which a woman lost her life. Her husband is still struggling with her death, whilst the wider family tries to keep things as normal as possible.

DS Jenn Townsend - played by Marsha Thomason - has been trying to support them best she can as their family liaison officer, supported by her colleague DS Karen Hobson (Erin Shanagher) and boss DI Tony Manning (Daniel Ryan).

However, the arrival of Len Reid - played by Robert Beck - left fans stunned as they instantly recognised the actor playing the loan shark, but noticed he looked very different from his soap days.

Throughout his career, Robert has been linked to multiple soaps. Firstly, he appeared as Peter Harrison in Brookside in the early 90s, before heading to the Dales, where he starred as Gavin Ferris.

He's also had roles in Doctors, Casualty and The Bill as well as Waterloo Road and Law and Order: UK.

Robert Beck was also in Hollyoaks (Lime Pictures)

Robert has a double link to Coronation Street, having starred in the soap as evil Jimmy Dockerson, who was one of the henchman of evil Tony Gordon, responsible for murdering Liam Connor in shocking scenes.

However, he is also married to Coronation Street star Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby. The pair tied the knot in 2005, six years after they first met, and share two sons called Harry and Sam.

"Hang on a minute I recognise Len Reid I’m sure he was in Hollyoaks #TheBay," one viewer penned, whilst a second added: "Robert Beck looks younger now than he did in Brookside! #TheBay."

Marsha previously shared how much more "confident" she felt leading the series this time around.

She said ahead of the fourth series: "Last year I was the new girl, so I was a bit nervous, whereas this year I felt much more confident coming in and it was just so nice. We all became friends and are all in touch when we aren’t filming.

"It is especially nice coming back and seeing everybody as I live in LA, they would get together for dinner or drinks and they would send pictures so I’d be sad I was missing out so it’s been great to come back."
