The Bay series 4 confirmed by ITV as final episode grips millions of viewers

ITV have shared news on The Bay's future just as the credits rolled on the final episode of series three on Wednesday night....it is coming back!

The new series has taken some adjusting to for dedicated fans who've been watching the show since its acclaimed debut back in 2019.

For the first two series, The Bay's cast was led by Morven Christie in the role of DS Lisa Armstrong, who found herself in the career doldrums after compromising an investigation into the disappearance of two teenagers by sleeping with their step dad on the night of they went missing.

Lisa got a reprieve in series two when she was called back into action to investigate the death of a local businessman in a doorstep shooting.

However, fan favourite Morven was nowhere to be seen as series three started last month, with Marsha Thomason coming into take over as DS Jenn Townsend.

Over the past few weeks, ITV viewers have seen her attempt to get to the bottom of the death of a promising young boxer after his body is found in the water by a swimmer.

The sixth and final part aired on ITV on Wednesday, although many viewers rushed to binge the whole series when it was made available on ITVHub last month.

And if you're a fan you'll be pleased to know that The Bay WILL return for a fourth series.

Confirming the new ITV’s Head of Drama, Polly Hill said: “I’m delighted that we will be returning to Morecambe for another series of The Bay. Marsha Thomason delivered a brilliant performance as DS Jenn Townsend, and it will be exciting to see where Daragh takes her character in series 4.

Filming begins later this year on the new series with further casting news to be announced.
