The areas of Wales with the worst drivers mapped

An area of Cardiff is home to more bad drivers than anywhere else in Wales. A new map has revealed where the worst drivers are across the UK with more than 1,000 drivers in one Cardiff postcode with at least six points on their licence.

The CF3 postcode – covering Rumney, Llanrumney, St Mellons, Marshfield, and Castleton – has 1,068 drivers who have six or more points on their licence. That works out as one out of every 30 drivers in the area, which is the joint-highest ratio in Wales along with LL64 and LL73.

Wales' next highest number of drivers with six or more points on their licences came from the NP19 postcode area (Alway) with 906. That was followed by CF5 (Ely) with 864, NP20 (Allt-yr-yn) with 813, and CF23 (Pentwyn) with 704.

Some areas of Wales had much lower numbers. Much of Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, and Powys are marked in yellow on the map indicating the low numbers of drivers with three or more points on their licences.

The UK postcode area with the highest number of drivers with six or more points on their licence is in Croydon, London, where there are 1,870 drivers with six or more points on their licence in the CR0 postcode area. The below map, from our data team, shows how many drivers have six or more points on their licence in postcodes across Wales and the rest of the country. We've listed the top places in Wales where drivers had six or more points on their licences but you can search for your postcode too.
