The Ange Postecoglou Tottenham transfer bonanza as Celtic spending TRIPLED in one month during major signing spree

Ange Postecoglou is looking to turn Tottenham around and the Aussie is wasting little time in getting his chequebook out.

The former Celtic boss recruited well in Glasgow with some big hitters such as Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers being unearthed in his bid for major trophy success, capping off his time in Scotland with a domestic Treble before leaving for Spurs. Postecoglou looked to the Far East and brought Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda to Parkhead in a transfer spree that spanned nearly two years. But the Aussie has splashed the cash already as Daniel Levy looks to back his new man.

James Maddison was the headline recruit in recent weeks with a cool £40million handed to Leicester City for the playmaker's services. The England international had interest from Saudi-backed Newcastle United but opted for London and Postecoglou. Goalkeeper Guglielmo Viacario was signed up from Empoli for £17m as the future of Hugo Lloris remains a puzzle for the 57-year-old to work.

And the spending hasn't stopped there with Dejan Kulusevski's loan made permanent with a £30m swoop from Juventus, while Pedro Porro's efforts were rewarded with £34m handed to parent club Sporting Lisbon to make his move a reality. That takes Postecoglou's bill to a whopping £121million, the highest in the Premier League.

And with the imminent arrival of Micky van de Ven from Wolfsburg for around £30million, that would take his total spend in just less than a month in charge to over £150million, more than triple what the Aussie spent in Glasgow across a two year stint. Record Sport crunched the numbers earlier this year and found the coach had splashed around £46million at the Hoops.

Spurs have dwarfed the likes of Champions League winners Manchester City who sit 8th in the table of spending on £30million. Meanwhile Tottenham's city rivals haven't been shy either, with Arsenal spending £60million but expecting to seal a transfer record £105million move for West Ham's Declan Rice.

Postecoglou's men could, of course, be levying the spending with expected incoming for top star Harry Kane. According to reports, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are set to come back to the table with a whopping £80million offer with add-ons.
