The Alnwick Halloween house with giant spiders, creepy skeletons and bone throne

Giant spiders and terrifying skeletons tower above visitors to a Northumberland house of horrors.

Charlotte Watson, 33, and her family have become renowned for their annual Halloween display outside their Alnwick home.

The display draws visitors from all over the county to enjoy the creepy display that features eight foot spiders and giant skeletons.

Every year the family goes bigger and better and this year is now different, with visitors able to sit on a 'Bone Throne' and have their picture taken with two terrifying skeletons towering over them.

Mum-of-two Charlotte said: "People love it. Last year I think more adults than kids loved it. Everyone who walked said how much they loved it.

"This year it is even bigger. The main thing is the 'Bone Throne' where people can sit and have their picture taken with two 12ft skeletons. You can get a family member to take pictures of you sitting on it."

Charlotte and her husband Leo first started decorating their house on Allerburn Lea five years ago and since then it has grown bigger and better.

Charlotte, who is mum to Louis, seven, and Nico, five, said: "It is hard work and a big expense but I have loved Halloween since I was a kid. I had children and I started doing a little bit outside the house and people started walking passed. Each year we have added a bit."

The impressive display has also raised thousands of pounds for various charities, with money raised this year going to Chameleon Buddies.

The charity supports people struggling to live with life-changing injuries after traumatic childbirths, and supports women in Kenya by sending over excess stoma supplies.

Charlotte, who runs two guest houses in the town, said: "There will be a donation box at the display next to our bone throne on the steps and there is also a JutGiving page with a QR code to donate directly.

"We raised £2,960 last year and we are hoping to beat that total with the help of the new additions we have."

People can see the display between 6pm and 8pm from October 24 until Halloween.
