In my mind, Jamie Oliver is the pioneer of easy, relaxed meals. His 15-Minute Meals and 30-Minute Meal cookbooks are like bibles in my home and his series, Jamie's Air Fryer Meals, is packed with tips and tricks for how to get the most out of this handy appliance. Watching him cook, you'll have had a fair few questions pop up and I'm here to answer them.
The most common question I get asked is, "which air fryer does Jamie Oliver use?" The answer to that one is simple. This year, in all the relaxed shots, Instagram videos, and videos on TV, you'll see the Tefal Dual Easy Fry Stainless Steel Air Fryer. The full name is a mouthful, but it's one of the best air fryers on the market, so get ready to say it. A lot.
Tefal are sponsor of the series, so it's no surprise that the air fryer pops up, but there's some more intrigue. The air fryer Jamie's using is actually designed by him and he's put some special cheffy twists on the classic design. We tasked our Home Economist to write a full review of the Jamie Oliver Air Fryer, but I've got some extra special insights, tips, and tricks you'll want to know before you buy an air fryer.
Which air fryer does Jamie Oliver use in Jamie's Air Fryer Meals?
I won't keep you in suspense. There's just one air fryer that Jamie scoops, tosses, shakes, and drizzles his marvellous creations into and that's the the Tefal Easy Fry Dual Zone Air Fryer.
You might not recognise Tefal as an air fryer giant like you would Ninja, for example, but don't dismiss it. Jamie Oliver actually designed this air fryer with Tefal. He's used it to launch his new air fryer cookbook, Easy Air Fryer, which promises some delicious and yet effortlessly simple concoctions.
The chef says he made sure it has two drawers so that "you can have two things going at one to create an epic meal. Think jacket spuds in the big drawer and smoky beans in the small one, or a seasonal soup on one side and cheesy soldiers for dunking on the other. I just know you’re going to have fun with it.”
What do you know, Jamie was right. We did have a lot of fun with it. So much so, Helen, who is notoriously tricky to please, gave this 4.5 stars in her Tefal Easy Fry Dual Zone Air Fryer review. She loved the two different zone sizes, which is a rare feature to have. "In my opinion, the combination of a larger cooking zone alongside a smaller one is arguably more useful than two even cooking zones," Helen says, "and this is one of the main reasons to buy this particular air fryer. That said, it depends on the size of your household and the types of foods you like to cook."
Sometimes, you can't beat a classic. This is the one you'll have seen on screen as Jamie whipped up curries, crumbles, and posh fish and chips too. It's a great price and is really well made too.
What is the new Jamie Oliver air fryer?
For all that Helen loved the Tefal Dual Easy Fry, she was unconvinced by the grill. As if by magic, this year, Jamie collaborated with Tefal to launch the Tefal Dual Easy Fry & Grill Stainless Steel Air Fryer. As you might have spotted in the name, this limited-edition model boasts a special grill function that'll help you to make extra bubbly mac and cheese, or even more tender joints of meat.
It comes packed with cooking modes for frying, baking, grilling, and dehydrating alongside some impressive claims too. Tefal says that it uses 70% less energy than a normal oven and 99% less fat. Jamie's always had a way of creating delicious, yet healthy, alternatives and this is the perfect example of it.
Since it's launch at the end of January, Jamie's Cookbook has been climbing the sales charts. He's offering nourishing noodles, succulent pork ribs, and his controversial custard combination. It's a must-have if you want to explore a more versatile way to cook with your air fryer. With 80 different recipes, you'll be dining out for weeks courtesy of Jamie.
You can admire Jamie's cooking all you want, but the best way to recreate them is with some help from the man himself. Short of that, you can have his air fryer. This limited-edition take on his other Tefal air fryer lets you cook two different dishes at independent temperatures and times. The split is 60:40 (one drawer offers 5.2L and the other is 3.1L, perfect for a main and side). He's thrown in a grill function, for extra fun too.
More dual-drawer and flexible air fryers
Whilst I'm always excited when a celebrity chef collaborates with a big brand, Jamie isn't the first person to make a dual drawer air fryer. There are plenty of impressive air fryers that I've tested and, if you're open to some innovation, here are three more that you should know about.
Perfect for compact kitchens, the DoubleStack is tall and deep, rather than deep and wide. This space-saving hero is perfect for stacking trays inside, although it can be a little fierce when cooking.
This air fryer can be transformed into a single-zone or a dual-zone air fryer, so you get to choose how much space you need. It's particularly handy for big, busy homes because I managed a roast dinner once, but I've also made solo meals in one half too.
I tried to avoid giving you another Ninja option, but the Foodi MAX is too good to miss off. The immense 9.5L capacity can feed more than eight people (it's more than 1L bigger than Jamie's) and the 6-in-1 functions don't miss the mark
Nobody can resist looking into what celebrities have in their kitchen, but I think celebrity chef's are some of the most interesting people to take note of. Jamie Oliver has always been an authentic, committed chef and I expect a lot from his air fryers. I'm currently testing the limited edition model and I'll keep you up to date with my thoughts.
