February 20 was a night to remember as Premio Lo Nuestro honored the legendary Paquita la del Barrio in a grand tribute alongside the Aguilar family.

The iconic singer, born Francisca Viveros, passed away on February 17, 2025, leaving a void in ranchera music but also a legacy of songs that reached so many across Latin America.

Paquita was known for raising her voice against injustice and championing women through her lyrics. She captivated audiences with her bold, direct style in hits like 'Rata de dos patas.'

Her songs became anthems for those who saw their own stories of heartbreak and empowerment reflected in her music. Now, these timeless classics will be performed by renowned artists in a heartfelt tribute.

The Aguilar family will leads the tribute

To honor Paquita's memory, Premio Lo Nuestro prepared a special tribute led by the Aguilar family. Pepe Aguilar, along with his children Leonardo and Ángela Aguilar, performed some of her greatest hits while sharing personal anecdotes that celebrate her life and legacy.

"Honoring Paquita la del Barrio's legacy is both a great responsibility and a privilege," said Pepe Aguilar before the ceremony. "Her voice resonated deeply within our people, and her courage in telling stories paved the way for many generations. I have always sought to preserve the essence of Mexican music, and Paquita was a pillar of that essence—authentic, raw, and powerful."

Ángela Aguilar also expressed her admiration: "Paquita la del Barrio taught us that a woman's voice should never be silenced. She sang what she felt, without fear or excuses."

She added, "She turned heartbreak into art, pain into power, and through her music, gave many of us the strength to speak our truth."

Leonardo Aguilar emphasized Paquita's cultural influence: "With a career spanning over five decades, she not only left an indelible mark on ranchera music but also became a powerful voice in popular culture. Her legacy continues to inspire new generations of artists and fans worldwide."

The Premio Lo Nuestro tribute was a moment to honor Paquita's music, courage, and impact on Latin culture.
