The adorable moments between Kate William and kids during family volunteer day out

The Wales family stole the hearts of the nation this weekend as they participated in the Big Help Out yesterday for the third day of the Coronation celebrations.

The monumental ceremony was Prince Louis' first royal engagement which he attended with his older siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the Mirror reports.

The scheme was organised by The Together Coalition and partners including The Scouts, the Royal Voluntary Service and faith groups from across the United Kingdom.

Around 55,123 events were due to take place, created by 33,228 grassroots and community organisations.

During a "family volunteering day out", George, nine, Charlotte, eight and Louis, five helped to renovate a Scout hut in Slough, Berkshire while their parents William and Kate kept an eye over them.

Louis joined in on the work with his siblings and parents by shovelling dirt, pushing wheelbarrows and operating a digger.

Here we take a closer look at some of the most adorable moments of the day...

Louis' reaction to treat

After their hard work for the day was done, the Wales family enjoyed a sweet treat around the fire and it's safe to say Louis was a huge fan of his prize as he chomped down on a s'more.

Kate and a scout member helped the five-year-old create a marshmallow biscuit sandwich which he looked delighted to be eating.

The young Prince didn't waste a second getting the sticky treat into his mouth and happily licked the marshmallow off his fingers before tucking in.

In the background, William can be heard making the crowd chuckle as he said: "You won't hear a peep out of him now".

After Louis' first bite, he turned round and rolled his backwards in glee before falling into his sister Charlotte.

George and Louis try their hand at digging

William gave his nine-year-old son George the opportunity to take control of a digger as he dumped a bucket full of earth onto a spoil heap.

After seeing George have a shot, Louis demanded one too as he told his mum Kate: "I want to go in with him".

The enthusiastic little Prince was then given his chance to take charge as he pulled a lever and asked: "What does this one do?"

He seemed unfazed when the digger lurched back slightly and was encouraged by his father who told him: "Keep going Louis, that's it".

The adorable five-year-old was later given the role of filling a wheelbarrow with builder's sand and did a good job of it as he carefully shovelled the material before wheeling the barrow himself.

Kate kept a watchful eye over her youngest son, telling him to shovel in a "bit more" and when the barrow was a quarter full, Louis wheeled it away to help volunteers creating a path and made a number of runs.

Charlotte's big sister warning

The three young royals worked away while helping to renovate the 3rd Upton Scouts Hut.

Meanwhile the adults completed a number of tasks including resetting a path, digging a new soakaway, sanding and revarnishing a door, screwing together planters and creating a mural as a lasting legacy of their work.

Meanwhile Louis and Charlotte gave their best attempt at painting the brick base of a planter with masonry paint and as the youngster splashed around, his sister warned him: "You've got paint in your hair! Louis, look at me! Look at me!"

The playful prince carried on regardless while his sister sternly told him: "You've got to wipe it."

Louis' plans for the future

The young prince has also already started to create some future plans for himself as he told a volunteer that he wants to follow in his dad and grandad's footsteps when he's older.

One volunteer suggested to the five-year-old: "You might want to be a painter when you grow up?"

However, he quickly responded: "No a fighter pilot" to which the lady replied: "Just like your father and grandfather!"

William's concerns about school run

The Prince of Wales shared his concerns about getting the kids up in time for the school run on Tuesday after such a busy weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, William told one volunteer that his children were "so tired" after the Coronation festivities and expressed how it would be difficult to get them up for school the next day.

The Wales family have had a hectic few days with them playing highly significant roles in the Coronation ceremony, appearing on Buckingam Palace's balcony, going on walkabouts and also staying up late to watch the Coronation concert.

Louis' cute nickname

Another never-before-heard detail that Kate let slip while volunteering is Louis' secret yet extremely sweet nickname.

As she supervised her young son, she told him to throw his empty stick from toasting the marshmallows into the fire but referred to him as Lou Bugs.

His hard work for the day was rewarded as he was later given another sweet treat. Kensington Palace described the event as Louis' first royal engagement.

Although he has attended multiple high-profile royal events in the past, his visit to Slough is believed to be the first time the prince has actively engaged with the public.

Charlotte's archery skills

The three royal siblings took part in a game of archery which brought out the competitive spirit amongst them. The family were later presented with Scout scarves for their efforts.

Scout member Milena Pereira said about the archery: "Charlotte mentioned she has done it before at home, but they were all determined to have a go.

"They were really nice and respectful, a nice family, so today was a nice surprise, we didn't know they were coming."
