The £9 item traveller says will make your flight a lot more comfortable

A TikTok traveller has shared the must-have items she always takes when flying long-haul. Songwriter Sabryna Salmon regularly posts tips and life hacks on the social media app, and has now revealed she gets through gruelling long-haul flights by taking just a few simple items.

In the video, Sabryna takes a 17-hour flight from Los Angeles to Singapore, and recommends viewers get themselves a pair of compression socks to make their journeys safer and more comfortable. Some people can be prone to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) while flying, a serious medical condition that occurs when a person gets a blood clot in a vein deep below the skin.

Compression socks are a great way to help prevent the condition, with the NHS also advising travellers to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol, and walk around when possible. The socks work by applying slight pressure to the leg muscles, which can increase blood flow and thereby reduce the risk of DVT and prevent swelling.

The socks worn by Sabryna are toeless, giving wearers more freedom and preventing an uncomfortable flight. They are a simple and cheap way to make flying safer and more enjoyable, with a pair starting from just £8.99 on Amazon.

They also come with a mesh laundry bag so they can be washed without risk of damage. Tiktok users took to Sabryna’s comments to praise her travel hack, with one user saying: “Yessss! As a flight attendant, the compression socks for travel are a must! Toeless are even better!”

Another added: “Compresion socks are a must honestly!”

“I took the flight SF-Singapore and slept 14h and ended up with a thrombosis… guys wear the socks,” echoed a third.

Elsewhere on Sabryna’s list of must-have travel items were natural sleeping pills, a Travel Blue Dream Pillow and a “survival kit” containing an array of toiletries and skincare essentials. Last week, we revealed how you can now get paid more than £40 an hour just for scrolling through TikTok videos.
