Seven major roadwork projects in Nottingham and beyond have been proving frustrating for motorists.
The projects are all taking place simultaneously and have been causing delays and traffic in and around the city, with some not expected to be completed until 2023.
These are some of the main works taking place right now, and when they are due to finish.
Hucknall Road
Work has been taking place at the busy Hucknall Road roundabout, outside City Hospital, for the past few weeks.
The work began in September last year and is now expected to last a total of six months, with a planned March 2022 completion.
Nottingham City Council says: "[We] have secured funding to improve the Hucknall Road corridor for people walking, cycling and using the bus.
"Phase one of the scheme will include a 24-hour widened bus and cycle lane heading into the city, with worn areas resurfaced and markings renewed.
"There will be a stepped cycle lane heading out of the city, requiring some changes near the bus stop (SH48, near City Hospital gate 3) which will be moved slightly.
"From 4 January 2022 we plan to commence work on the southernmost inbound section of Hucknall Road, just after the roundabout. Traffic will be affected, and the suspended bus lane used to allow safe working space, and to provide room for right turners into the city hospital."
A52 Radcliffe Road, Gamston Roundabout
Work started on Monday, January 10 on the A52 by Gamston roundabout, as part of the Nottingham junctions improvement scheme on the busy road.
The work involves junction improvements and upgrades to an existing gas network.
The gas network upgrade, done by Cadent Gas, is expected to take 12 weeks, and during this time traffic management will be in place for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The main works to the junction will begin in April 2022 and will consist of four phases of improvements which will finish in February 2023.
Residents in Radcliffe-on-Trent told Nottinghamshire Live that it’s 'a nightmare’ for the area as there’s other roadworks in the area as well.
Mapperley Plains
Severn Trent Water is carrying out works at the junction between Mapperley Plains and Catfoot Lane, which closed from Monday, January 24.
A water pipe is being moved and, due to the nature of the work, local businesses will have close.
Work at the busy junction in Nottinghamshire has caused disruptions to motorists and visitors to Gedling Crematorium, but residents are remaining patient.
Derby Road, Nottingham
Work began in Derby Road in Nottingham in January and is expected to finish in March.
Nottingham City Council says: "We’re carrying out a range of improvements along the section of Derby Road between Balfour Road and Lenton Boulevard.
"This will involve the conversion of two existing crossings to Toucan crossings, and one new Toucan crossing. We’ll also be widening three central refuges to make crossing the road easier.
"The improvements are designed to provide better crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, and improved bus stop infrastructure, as well as altering the road layout at and around the Sainsbury’s car park access."
Adbolton Lane
Adbolton Lane in Lady Bay, West Bridgford, has been closed for four weeks from Monday, January 24, with no access to Regatta Way due to ongoing roadworks.
Works on a new route, which will connect residential areas to facilities at Holme Pierrepont Country Park, will include the creation of a cycle track which is seperate from both the pavement and the road.
Once complete, the council says the road will be upgraded to a two-way route which will run from A6011 Radcliffe Road to Adbolton Lane, where it will join with the existing shared cycle and footway.
In the meantime, there is no access to Adbolton Lane via Regatta Way - or vice versa - which has annoyed some people who regularly use the route, or live nearby.
Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham
Nightmare roadworks through the centre of Hyson Green are causing 'mayhem' for motorists, business owners and residents.
The project in Gregory Boulevard started on January 4 and will take five weeks to complete.
A lane has been blocked off in both directions and the work is being carried out by Severn Trent Water as part of a £1.5m investment in the area to upgrade a network of water pipes.
Bingham Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent
The work at the Bingham Road junction in Radcliffe-on-Trent is part of a number of changes to the A52 proposed by Highways England.
When residents were told of the planned works in January, which involve widening the road from two lanes to three and banning left turns from the adjoining Carter Avenue, many hit back saying the plans were ‘disgusting’ and ‘unsafe.’
The work is to be carried out in phases along the A52, beginning near Golf Road and moving along the A52 ending near Bingham Road.
