Newcastle United have confirmed Nick Pope's height after his arrival on Tyneside. There has always been a lot made about Pope's huge frame, even from his days at York City when he was a loanee during his fledgling years. Indeed, for some time Pope was listed on Burnley's official website as 6ft 3in while FIFA 21 stats had him down as 6ft 7in.
However, United now seem to have established the goalie as being 6ft 6in after he joined the club on a bargain £10million deal. A dig through the archives, shows Pope quoted in 2019 when asked by the i Paper with his response: "Six-foot-six-inches-ish. The average door is six-foot-six-inches... I've banged my head on a few!"
One of the reasons Eddie Howe is thought to have gone for Pope was to bring in a goalkeeper that can play out from the back more.
Pope has spoken about his style before and said: "If you’re going back some years, goalkeepers used to save the ball and not a lot else, whereas now there’s a lot more to it and a lot more has been thought about the goalkeeper position. It is great to evolve myself as a goalkeeper and evolve my own game."
