The NFL Combine is a valuable oasis in a post-Super Bowl desert of pro football. While at its core it’s just a bunch of college kids working out in drills that kinda/sorta resemble the game they love, it’s mostly an excuse for the league to come together, stare at its future, and make some somewhat-informed guesses about what comes next.
Coaches and general managers use their press conferences to repeat vague platitudes that build hope without revealing what exactly comes next this offseason. Things are a little clearer for the players themselves; they get to back up any statements they make in interviews on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium.
