Once you've arrived on the Cote d'Azur, there is plenty to do and see. Time Out describes the city as the "ultimate summer destination" and it is not hard to see why.
The magazine says: "It has it all, from stunning sandy beaches to quaint little villages and some fantastic markets to stroll through. That’s probably why it’s made a bit of a name for itself as a prime spot for celebs, high-flyers and other seekers of luxurious living."
Top of the agenda when you get there should be a walk along the Promenade des Anglais. As well as taking in the beautiful blue Mediterranean sea and relaxing on the white sandy beaches, you should take advantage of the many bars and restaurants on the seafront, blessed with great views.
You will be well served by food and drink venues across the city. Most offer great wine at a very acceptable price.
Cave de la Tour should not be missed. One of the city's oldest wine bars, you will find some of the country's best wines on offer.
However, if beer is more your thing, Nice has a growing craft scene. Beer District serves ales from nearby microbreweries and bottles from across the world. For cocktails, the bar at the iconic Hotel Negresco on the Promenade des Anglais is a must-visit. Its domed roof and distinctive styling makes it hard to miss.
For a fix of culture, Nice's Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain has a great selection of modern art, including work by Andy Worhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Henri Matisse lived in Nice for around 40 years and the Musée Matisse is dedicated to his career.
If you want a day trip, Monaco is about half an hour by car. The quaint town of Antibes is 15 minutes by train and offers more great beaches, a 16th century fort and more art in the form of the Picasso Museum.
