It’s been several months since people in Wales were able to enjoy a pint inside a pub - but that wait is now almost over as we get tantalisingly close to the date that many across the country have had circled in the diary for some time.
May 17 - next Monday - will see pubs and restaurants in Wales welcome customers indoors for the first time since a tier-four lockdown was introduced by the Welsh Government in December last year.
Things might not quite be ‘normal’ inside a pub for some time yet, with a number of guidelines and rules to adhere to for landlords up and down the country, but at least sitting inside away from the cold and the drizzle will brighten people’s spirits after what’s been a long wait.
A number of the pubs re-opening are owned by Brains and Marston’s, with the latter agreeing a deal with the former in 2020 to take on its estate of Welsh pubs to add to its 1,471 establishments throughout the UK.
Below is a list of all the Brains and Marston’s pubs re-opening indoors next week:

Back in November last year, Brains announced that eight of its pubs would not be reopening after the firebreak lockdown imposed in October, due to ongoing searches for new tenants. While some of those pubs will now reopen in the coming days, three of them will remain closed temporarily.
They are Salt, located on Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay, Barocco, on Wharton Street in the city centre, and the Goat Major, on the capital's High Street.
Ralph Findlay, CEO of Marston’s, said: “It’s fantastic that our pubs and Brains’ pubs across Wales can reopen, inside and out. Over the past few weeks, we have seen people visit pub gardens, come rain or shine, for the pure enjoyment of socialising with friends and family.
"Our teams can’t wait to fully open the doors and welcome back guests, it’s been a long time coming and we encourage everyone to safely visit and support their local."
