Valve kicked off its Steam Summer Sale, with steep discounts on hundreds of PC games. The sale runs until July 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time and features a healthy mix of big-name AAA games, including Assassin’s Creed, Star Wars, and Cyberpunk 2077; smaller hits like Victoria 3 and Octopath Traveler 2; and popular indie games, such as Stardew Valley, Cassette Beasts, and Hades.
There’s a staggering amount of games to trawl through, some with demos and some you have to just try on faith. We’ve rounded up roughly two dozen of the best deals going, ranging from heavy hitters to niche RPGs and a few indie gems as well.
Steam Deck - Up to 20 percent off
All models of the Steam Deck are discounted during the Steam Summer Sale.
- 64GB model – $359.10
- 256GB model – $449.65
- 512GB model – $519.20
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - $52.49
It’s not a huge discount, but Jedi Survivor launched only a few months ago. The fact that it’s on sale at all is kind of a big deal. If you’ve wanted to check out the next chapter of Cal Kestis’ story without paying full price, now’s the time to do it. You can find it here.
GTA 5 Premium Edition - $14.98
GTA 5 keeps selling millions of copies every year, but if you’re one of the few who hasn’t played it yet, you can grab it at a pretty good discount now.
Final Fantasy XIV Complete Edition - $29.99
Final Fantasy XIV‘s complete edition gets you the base game and all four expansions up through Endwalker, which, even if you consider the base game and first expansion are free now, is still a pretty good deal. There’s a pretty popular Cid in here too.
Just bear in mind that after the first 30 days, you’ll need to pay a monthly subscription fee. If that’s not a problem, you can grab it here.
Dredge - $19.99
Elden Ring - $41.99
Elden Ring‘s DLC might be a ways off, but you can grab the base game for nearly $20 less than it usually costs if you haven’t picked it up yet or fancy it on the Steam Deck.
Deep Rock Galactic - $9.89
Deep Rock Galactic, the indie space game that’s officially longer than The Hobbit, is almost 70 percent off during the sale. That includes all the updates since the game launched, which is quite a hefty package for under $10.
Forza Horizon 5 - $29.99
Forza Horizon 5 doesn’t go on sale too often, and when it does, the price is rather higher. $29.99 is a darn good discount for one of the best racing games in recent years.
Psychonauts 2 - $20.99
Speaking of Xbox games, Psychonauts 2‘s price is down to $20.99 from its usual $59.99. Raz’s second big adventure doesn’t reinvent platforming, but it’s a clever, sometimes even poignant tale stuffed with charmingly bizarre personalities.
Octopath Traveler 2 - $44.99
Octopath Traveler 2 improves on the original in every way, and you can get it for 25 percent off. If you’re not sure whether this one is for you, you can download the prologue demo and play through the opening chapters for each character.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade - $39.89
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going for $30 off the usual price, and it includes the base game and the Intergrade DLC starring Yuffie. It’s the perfect way to catch up before Square Enix launches Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 in January 2024.
Signalis - $19.99
Signalis was one of our favorite games of 2022, and you can pick it up it at the slightly discounted price of $15.99. Signalis is a bit like old-school Resident Evil in space, a surprisingly deep horror adventure that you might want to play with the lights on.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla - $14.99
Eivor’s big adventure is on sale again. The base game is down to $14.99, but if you fancy the full package, including the season pass and Ragnarok expansion, you can get that version for $41.99 – almost $100 less than it normally sells for.
Victoria 3 - $39.99
Victoria 3 is a grand strategy game set in the turbulent 19th century, and it delves surprisingly deep into the period’s social and cultural developments. There aren’t many games like Victoria 3, and while the 20 percent off discount isn’t huge, it’ll certainly keep you busy for a while.
Cyberpunk 2077 - $29.99
Head to Night City for nearly half price, and catch up on V’s story before the Phantom Liberty DLC launches later in 2023. It’s still a bit rough, but years of updates and improvements smoothed out the worst wrinkles.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky - $9.99
Trails in the Sky is the first in an RPG series from Nihon Falcom that’s spanned nearly two decades and eight other games. It’s an epic tale of personal heroism and political upheaval, and it’s going for just $9.99 now. It also works perfectly on the Steam Deck, despite the “Unsupported” label.
Hades - $12.49
Hades, the roguelike from Supergiant Games, throws a sprinkle of mythology and family drama into the roguelike formula, and it works spectacularly well. It’s also half-price right now, which is a pretty good deal.
Red Dead Redemption 2 - $19.79
It wouldn’t be a sale without Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 being discounted to its usual $19.79. Arthur Morgan’s tragic tale remains one of the more gripping open-world games around, so if you’ve never picked it up before, do yourself a favor and try it now.
The Yakuza Collection - $35.00
After GoG discounted the Yakuza collection, Steam is doing it now as well. You can get all seven Yakuza games – Yakuza 0 through Yakuza 6 – for $35.00. Most of them are discounted individually if you didn’t want to get all of them. Like A Dragon and Like A Dragon Ishin are both on sale too.
Cassette Beasts - $15.99
Cassette Beasts is one of the more polished and promising Pokemon-like games in recent years, where your mixtapes become monsters who travel and battle alongside you. It’s a nifty concept, and it’s only $15.99.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut - $9.99
Disco Elysium is one of the best narrative games in the past decade, and you can get its best version for just $9.99 now. Disco combines a mystery story with tabletop elements and a dark, bizarre sense of humor. Will you save the world or accidentally die from overexertion after you opened the mailbox? There’s only one way to find out.
Persona 5 Royal - $35.99
Atlus wants to steal your heart and about 90 hours of your life with Persona 5 Royal, a modern classic RPG that’s down to $35.99 during the sale. If you’re keen on tough turn-based battles and some social simulation rolled together into a slice-of-life format, this one’s definitely worth a try.
Sons of the Forest - $23.99
Sons of the Forest broke Steam when it first launched because it was so popular, and the survival game is 20 percent off now and even has a proper ending.
This is barely even scratching the surface of what’s on sale. Head over to the Steam Summer Sale home page to check it all out.
