The EV revolution on the consumer side may sometimes appear to be in peril. However, when it comes to fleet and commercial vehicles it feels like electrification is both smooth and constant. Fleet operators see the monetary and maintenance benefits of going electric. Thus, all over the world brands are offering a bevy of electrified commercial vans and trucks. The Ram ProMaster’s EV option went on sale last year, but for 2025 the brand has made some big updates to the model line to make it appealing to more buyers.
For starters, the EV RamProMaster is a lot cheaper for 2025, for two reasons. Initially, the Ram ProMaster EV was only available in the step-van delivery format, which had a sliding door and roll-style rear tailgate. The car was clearly set up to be an alternative to the Rivian EDV since it rivaled that van on payload, price and range. For 2025, there’s been a sizable price cut. This step van now starts at $71,990, down from the $79,990 of last year’s model. Both prices include the $1,995 destination fee.
Things get even cheaper still with the addition of the 12-foot and 13-foot cargo van body styles. The cheapest 12-footer starts at $58,490 including the $1,995 destination fee. Also with the more traditional van shape and loss of weight from the step van’s equipment, this variant now has 180 miles of range, up from the 164 miles of the other body style.

This is no doubt a big boon to EV van drivers who have their heart set on a Stellantis-made vehicle, but how does this stack up to the competition? By comparison, a comparable E-Transit cargo starts at just $53,095 including the destination fee. The Ford’s 3,249 lbs (1473 kg) payload also edges out the Ram’s 3,020 lbs (1,369 kg). Yet, the RAM’s 180-mile (289 km) range from its 110 kWh battery bests the 159 miles (255 km) of the E-Transit. The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is more expensive still at $63,545.
Still, as I said back in August last year, the ProMaster EV’s step van’s body shape is its real ace-in-the-hole. The new standard van might be a bit of a wash specification and pricing wise compared to the E-Transit, but the E-Transit doesn’t have a step van body option that’s tailor-made for commercial clients. The ProMaster EV might not be as cool looking as the Rivian RCV, but it matches its specs for a much lower price. It could easily be an alternative option for corporate buyers like who aren’t necessarily willing to pay up for Rivian’s van but want the utility afforded to them by the sliding door on the passenger side of the car.
The 2025 Ram ProMaster EV will roll out to dealerships in the spring, and order books are open now.
