It's February, which means only three months until fashion's biggest night of the year, aka the Met Gala. Vogue announced back in October that the Spring 2025 exhibition will be "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." It's the first time in over 20 years menswear will take center stage. Now we know the official dress code and it ties into the theme seamlessly.
"Tailored for You" means that we can expect to see a sea of suits going up that infamous red carpet-covered staircase. Certain designers are going to have a field day. Like Thom Browne, whose whole brand revolves around spectacular suits of every style. Saint Laurent's Anthony Vaccarello is also probably delighted by the news because a good portion of his Spring 2025 collection was comprised of suits complete with ties.
The dress code isn't the only big news regarding the annual gala. While this year's hosts have already been introduced, the event is also bringing back the tradition of selecting a host committee. Which means even more star power. According to Vogue, "André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha'Carri Richardson, Tyla, Usher, and Kara Walker" will make up the newly reinstated panel.
The 2025 Met Gala takes place on Monday, May 5.
