The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Starts At $43,975, XRT At $56,875

  • The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the first model to be assembled at Hyundai Motor Group's brand-new factory in Georgia.
  • The updated EV is eligible for a partial $3,750 federal tax credit when purchasing.
  • Thanks to bigger batteries, the electric crossover can now drive longer distances than the outgoing model.

The refreshed, U.S.-made 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is here, and it’s a pretty big deal. The first model to be built at the brand-new Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America factory in Georgia, the updated Ioniq 5 starts at $43,975 including destination. The first units will arrive at dealerships across the country by the end of the year.

The keen-eyed among you might have noticed the slightly higher price tag than the outgoing model–$780 more, to be precise. However, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is now eligible for a partial $3,750 federal tax credit when purchasing—something the Korean-made 2024 model doesn’t benefit from—as well as the full $7,500 tax credit when leasing. (It's unclear why it doesn't qualify for the full $7,500 credit; we will update this story if we hear back from Hyundai.)

That’s big news because it means the refreshed car is actually cheaper than before if you qualify for the partial tax credit. And it gets better–the 2025 model comes with bigger batteries and more range, so you’re getting more of everything for less. Oh, and it comes with a rear wiper and a native Tesla NACS charging port so you can charge at any Tesla Supercharger without an adapter.

The entry-level Ioniq 5 SE Rear-Wheel Drive Standard Range is now fitted with a 63-kilowatt-hour battery (up from 58-kWh) and an EPA-estimated driving range of 245 miles on a full charge (up from 220 miles). This is the only trim available with the Standard Range Battery and the only one with a single, rear-mounted motor that makes 168 horsepower.

Next in line is the Ioniq 5 SE RWD with the larger 84-kWh battery (up from 77.4-kWh), which starts at $48,025. It has a more powerful 225-hp rear motor, and thanks to the larger battery, it can cover up to 318 miles on a full charge, according to the EPA rating–15 miles more than the outgoing model.

The longest-range all-wheel-drive versions of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5, the SE Dual Motor and SEL Dual Motor, can cover up to 290 miles on a full charge–30 more than on the outgoing model. The SE AWD starts at $51,975 while the SEL AWD goes for $54,475. Both are powered by a dual-motor setup that’s good for 320 hp.

The most expensive model is the Ioniq 5 Limited Dual Motor, with a price of $59,574. It has the same powertrain as the SE and SEL, but a lower range rating of 269 miles. The new-for-2025 Ioniq 5 XRT–that’s the off-roady trim–starts at $56,875 and has the lowest range rating of the lineup, 259 miles on a full charge.

As for charging speeds, the 63-kWh model can go from 10% to 80% state of charge in 24 minutes from a Tesla Supercharger. Using a CCS adapter at a 250 kW DC fast charger cuts the time to 20 minutes. The larger battery needs 30 minutes for a top-up at a Tesla Supercharger, but a 250+ kW CCS DC fast charger will get it to 80% in 20 minutes, just like the smaller battery. Using a 10.9 kW Level 2 home charger will require 5 hours and 40 minutes for a 10% to 100% charge on the small battery and 7 hours and 20 minutes on the larger pack.

The Ioniq 5 XRT is only available with all-wheel drive and the large 84-kWh battery. It has a higher ground clearance compared to the other, more road-oriented versions–7 inches versus 6.1 inches–specific 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. Deliveries of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 will begin before the year ends.
