The 20 roads in Cardiff where the most speeding tickets were handed out in 2021

The top 20 roads in Cardiff where the most amount of drivers have been caught speeding in 2021 have been revealed.

South Wales Police recorded more than 29,000 speeding offences from the sites in the calendar year for 2021.

A freedom of information request by WalesOnline discovered that North Road southbound recorded the most offences, with 4,681 offences recorded last year.

The second highest location in 2021 saw 3,812 offences recorded on Pentwyn Road in north Cardiff, which runs past Butterfield Park and Premier Inn Cardiff North.

Greenway Road (near the junction with Hendre Road) in Rumney came in third, with 3,038 offences for the area recorded across the period.

The minimum penalty for speeding is £100 and adds three points to your licence. If you receive 12 or more points within three years, you could be disqualified from driving.

If you're a newly qualified driver this is reduced to six points during the first two years after you pass your test.

Police will decide if a speed awareness course is sufficient or appropriate for the offence and as long as the driver has not attended one in the past three years.
