The 10p 'miracle' oven cleaning product that scrubs off stubborn stains and grease

Oven doors can be notorious for gathering grime and grease - and once "stubborn" brown stains form, they are hard to ignore given they're easily spotted through the clear glass.

Not only can it cloud up the oven door, but these stains are made up of old food and layers of grease, which you don't exactly want to infuse with your next meal. While it seems like a tedious task, a clean oven door will not only make it look better, but can also improve its efficiency.

Fans of cleaning queen Mrs Hinch have shared their go-to methods for scrubbing this part of the appliance, after one woman asked for advice on the guru's Facebook page for sharing cleaning tips, simply saying “How do I clean my oven door?”.

Mrs Hinch fans were quick to respond on ways to tackle the task, as the post received over 100 comments. Of all answers, the most popular was to use a wet dishwasher tablet, reports the Express.

Dishwasher tablets were even dubbed as a “miracle” product when cleaning ovens by one cleaning fanatic.

Paula Simmonds said: “After years of using strong chemical cleaners to clean my oven door I was suggested to use a dishwasher tablet and it has changed my life.

“I am amazed that all it takes to remove stubborn stains from my oven is a regular dishwasher tablet. It’s honestly a miracle cleaner, you have to try it.

“All you have to do is wet a dishwasher tablet and use it to lightly scrub the glass. Make sure to keep dipping the tablet in water to keep it moist so it doesn’t scratch the glass.”

Dishwasher tablets are made of concentrated dishwasher detergent and promise to cut through tough grease and leave your dishes sparkling. Moreover, they're inexpensive as a pack of 30 can be purchased from Asda for £3 - working out as 10p per tablet.

Tina West agreed, replying: “Yes, I totally agree! It gets the job done so well and its so cheap. A box of dishwasher tablets lasts me ages.”

Lorraine McSweeney wrote: “Wet a dishwasher tablet and rub it all over and wipe with wet cloth.”

Pauline Collindridge said: “Cheap dishwasher tablet and use like a pumice stone - it’s a 10 minute job.” Kathleen Clark advised: “Wet a dishwasher tablet, rub on oven door and it takes all the little burnt bits off.”

It makes sense that such tablets work on oven grease and food stains, especially since the tablets promise to remove baked-on food from dishes. Plus, the hard powder tablets have an abrasive surface that helps to scour away those stuck-on stains but is gentle enough not to scratch the oven glass.

Sarah Oakley added: “Scouring can damage the integrity of the glass so instead use a wet dishwasher tablet. It works a treat.”
