The 1975 announce date at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena next year on new tour

The 1975 have announced a new tour in 2023 - and they will be stopping off in Newcastle to play the Utilita Arena .

The English rock band released their new single, I’m In Love With You, on Thursday - the third song from their upcoming album Being Funny In A Foreign Language. The new studio album, the band’s fifth, is due to be released on 14 October and includes other recent hits Happiness and Part Of The Band.

The band, consisting of singer Matty Healy, guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald and drummer George Daniel, were formed in Manchester in 2002 and have since had all four studio albums go to number one in the UK charts. They made their long-awaited live comeback in August this year, headlining Japan’s biggest rock festival Summer Sonic 2022 in Tokyo and Osaka.

They are set to tour across the US in November and December, following headline slots at Reading & Leeds festival last month. As they announced the UK and Ireland leg of their tour on Thursday, North East fans were delighted to discover that Newcastle is one of the 14 locations they will visit in January.

The 1975 will come to the Utilita Arena on 25 January 2023 . Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday 9 September, or fans can pre-order the new album on The 1975’s official store by 3pm on Tuesday 6 September for presale access on Wednesday 7 September.

The band is also visiting Brighton, Bournemouth, Exeter, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Dublin and Belfast in January as part of their At Their Very Best tour.

The band has links to the North East because Matty Healy is the son of Denise Welch and Tim Healy.
