The 1975 have announced a huge Cardiff gig next year as part of their UK tour. The indie rockers, fresh off triumphant headline appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals, will play the Motorpoint Arena on Monday, January 16, 2023.
The Manchester four-piece will hit the Welsh capital on their newly announced 14-date UK and Ireland Tour which will also see them take in cities like London, Exeter, Birmingham and Glasgow. The tour was announced on Thursday evening in support of the band's fifth album, 'Being Funny In A Foreign Language', out on October 14.
The 1975, led by flamboyant frontman Matty Healy - the son of former Waterloo Road star Denise Welsh and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet star Tim Healy - are fresh off the back of headlining the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August after being drafted in as last-minute replacements for original headliners, Rage Against the Machine. Next year's gig will also be the band's first time back in Cardiff since the pandemic - their last appearance saw them play the Motorpoint Arena in late February, 2020, just weeks before Wales went into its first lockdown and before any coronavirus cases had been confirmed.
