The £15 blanket that keeps shoppers warm without turning on the central heating

With temperatures dropping and energy costs still a concern, many of us will be looking for ways to keep warm without turning on the central heating.

Of course, one method would be to pop on the heating for a little while, but with the cost of living soaring, that may be an option a few households cannot afford right now.

Which is why shoppers are raving over an oversized wearable blanket that is said to be perfect for keeping you warmer during the chillier season without racking up the heating bills.

The Silentnight Snugsie went viral on social media after one savvy shopper took to Facebook to share how she wanted to look for other ways to keep warm without turning on the heating, following Martin Lewis' advice on 'heating the human, not the home'.

Coated in a teddy fleece material, the wearable blanket also comes complete with handy foot pocket to keep your toes nice and toasty, as well as being able to turn back into a cushion for extra space.

The blanket is currently available at Argos for just £15 (Facebook/Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group)

Originally priced at £23 on the Silent Night website, the shopper posted how she managed to get the nifty blanket down to just £10 with a code from WeeklyDeals4less.com.

A description for the blanket reads: "This wearable blanket is made from soft teddy fleece, featuring a foot pocket designed to keep your toes warm that also folds into a cushion for easy storage.

"It's super-sized to ensure you're completely covered up as you relax; the blanket is a must-have on cold winter evenings."

After sharing a snap of the blanket to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Group, the shopper explained how she managed to pick one up for just £10 from the WeeklyDeals4Less website. While the deal is no longer available, hundreds of commenters commented that they approved of the item themselves.

"I've got a couple of these they're Brill...but for the life of me cannot make it back into a cushion again!!", praised one shopper.

"I was lucky enough to pick one of these up in Tesco. Was £5 in clearance! So warm", wrote a second.

"I was lucky enough to get a few when Tesco had them down £5. Sorely needed for this winter", agreed a third.

"My aunt bought me one 14 years ago when I moved into my own house as the house ended up getting referred to as "the igloo" it was so so cold and had storage heaters that didn't work so a small oil filled radiator is all we had. This blanket was amazing has a pocket for your feet to keep them warm and a front pocket for your hands to keep them warm. I still have it and it's still like new", commented a fourth.

Despite the online deal no longer being available, shoppers can still pick up the oversized blanket for less at Argos, where it is currently priced at just £15.

Another option would be to purchase it from the Silent Night website directly for just £23.
