The 13 Arsenal deals for Mikel Arteta and Edu to complete next after sealing £34m transfer

The summer transfer window only officially opened just over a week ago, but already, Arsenal have been busy by signing two new players in Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira.

Whilst those are the only announcements regarding incomings so far, other moves have been just as important in their own right with Mohamed Elneny as well as Eddie Nketiah signing new contracts and Alexandre Lacazette among four men's players across all squads that will be released at the end of the month.

Improving the quality and increasing the depth of the Arsenal first-team squad was made clear by Mikel Arteta towards the end of last season and those plans are beginning to take shape as days after confirming the arrival of Marquinhos, a £34million deal for midfielder Fabio Vieira was completed.

With that said, Marquinhos and Vieira won't be the last deals Arsenal get done this summer as there is still plenty of time for Arteta and technical director Edu to oversee more business - whether that be incomings or outgoings - but what's in store for the Gunners after the deal for the Portugal Under-21s international?

Well, football.london takes you through the 13 deals for the aforementioned Gunners pair to can get to work on in the coming weeks in the hope of completing them before the transfer window closes.

Incomings

Matt Turner's move from New England Revolution should be announced shortly as the goalkeeper has already been given a send-off by the MLS outfit and has been due in the UK this week to complete all the formalities for his £7.5million transfer such as undergoing a medical and then signing his contract.

As the USMNT keeper celebrates his 28th birthday on June 24, Friday would be the ideal time for Arsenal to confirm their third signing of the summer transfer window and it's looking like a real possibility that the Gunners could follow up the signing of Turner with a double deal for Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha.

Interest in the Manchester City striker was revealed towards the end of last season and links have only intensified in over the past month as the Gunners need a replacement for Lacazette. Interestingly, Goal have claimed that the Brazil international's representatives will be travelling to England very soon in a bid to push through a transfer.

Meanwhile, The Athletic have reported that whilst Arsenal's made first formal offer to Leeds for Raphinha fell well below their valuation and was subsequently rejected, interest remains strong and there is a determination on the Gunners' side to sign the 25-year-old even if it turns out to be a long/difficult process.

Furthermore, the same publication state that the north London outfit have decided another priority this summer is to sign Lisandro Martinez from Ajax due to the 24-year-old's ability to play at centre-back and left back. Similar to Raphinha, an opening bid - in the region of £25million - has been rejected - although they are expected to return with an improved offer

Outgoings

As revealed by football.london at the beginning of the week, highly-rated centre-forward Mika Biereth is joining RKC Waalwijk on a season-long loan deal. In addition, young defender Mazeed Ogungbo will be available to head out on loan this summer amid attracting interest from several clubs in both League One and League Two.

But in terms of first-team departures, Bernd Leno, Alex Runarsson, Hector Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Nicolas Pepe are all free to leave this summer, though nothing appears to be close at the moment as the Gunners will aim to generate funds from any sale.

With that said, once Turner is confirmed Arteta and Edu can work on Leno's exit as the German keeper has attracted interest from Fulham whilst another newly-promoted Premier League side in Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Maitland-Niles but the midfielder's high salary could make a deal difficult.

Torreira's dreams of joining Fiorentina on a permanent basis were shattered last week but there could be a deal to be done with Galatasaray if reports coming out of Italy and Turkey are true, whilst Estadio Deportivo, as per Sport Witness, claim the Serie A side and rivals AS Roma are willing to pay €10million (£8.5million) for Bellerin which is short of his €20million (£17.1million) valuation.

New contracts

As previously mentioned by football.london, sorting out a new contract for Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli is just as important as incomings and outgoings for Arsenal this summer as they are three first-team players who represent an exciting future for the club.

The slight problem is they are all out of contract in the summer of 2024. Luckily, football.london, have reported that talks with Saka and Saliba's representatives are planned and could likely commence - if they've not done so already - once they are back from their holidays.

There is some leeway regarding Martinelli's situation as transfermarkt states that the Gunners have an option to extend his contract by a further year which means they can focus on securing the long-term futures of Saka and Saliba before opening talks with the Brazil international.
