Ten Welsh restaurants have been nominated at the fourth annual British Restaurant Awards. Those up for the awards are nominated and voted for by customers. Restaurants in Cardiff, Swansea, Bala and Machynlleth have been nominated for the title of best in Wales and Cardiff bar, Lab 22, has been shortlisted for best bar in Britain. Now people can vote for their favourite to be crowned the winner.
The restaurants from Wales nominated are:
- Bully’s, Cardiff
- Thomas, Cardiff
- Milkwood, Cardiff
- Palé Hall, Bala
- Purple Poppadom, Cardiff
- Zero Degrees, Cardiff
- Slice, Swansea
- Park House Restaurant & Wine Bar, Cardiff
- Ynyshir, Machynlleth
- Heaney’s, Cardiff
The list comprises of award-winners already, with Ynyshir the only Welsh restaurant to have two Michelin stars and Palé Hall was named the best hotel in the UK back in June. Lab 22, meanwhile has received the accolades of best bar in the UK on the Top 50 cocktail bars list and the best cocktail menu in the world in autumn 2021 for its Theories + Frontiers menu.
The nominations were open between January and April this year as readers of Chelsea Monthly magazine, The National Post and members of the World Restaurant Awards Guide ( WRAG) were given the opportunity to nominate their favourite restaurants per city, region and throughout the UK. The restaurants that receive the most number of nominations are shortlisted and released for the public to vote. The final list of winners as voted for by the public is announced at the annual gala/red carpet awards show on September 22. You can vote for your favourite restaurant by clicking here.
Other notable nominees in the awards include chefs Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Levi Roots, Ainsley Harriot and Gino D’Campo, who are all nominated for Best Chef.
