'That was boring wasn't it?' — Steve Morison's frank assessment of Cardiff City stalemate and the big positive to emerge

Cardiff City boss Steve Morison says he's keen to focus on the positives after his side's "boring" 0-0 draw at home to Preston North End.

City drew a blank during a drab contest which yielded precious few moments of quality for either side, and Morison admits he was in agreement with his opposite number Ryan Lowe at full-time.

"It was a 0-0 game," Morison said after the game

"It had 0-0 written all over it from about the first five minutes of the game. You're just hoping you have a moment in the game to win the game and don't give up a goal and we nearly had that.

"It wasn't to be, their manager turns round to me at the end, we both shake each other's hand and go 'that was boring wasn't it'.

"But on the positive, we kept a clean sheet. Another point in the right direction. We would have lost that a few months back. We haven't today.

"I just said to the lads, let's dust ourselves down and go again Monday.

"Hopefully it's more exciting on Wednesday."

Morison had previously expressed the importance of ensuring his side don't take their foot off the gas during the last few months of the season, and insists there were real positives from this result, which sees Cardiff stay in 17th, one point behind bitter rivals Swansea City.

"There's no negatives out there," he continued. "It's two teams that played exactly the same shape, exactly the same amount of shots, exactly the same number of shots on target. They had a few more passes than us.

"They didn't create anything either. It was just one of those games. We had moments, but it's definitely not a time to be worrying about any negatives, you have to concentrate on the positives because we have to keep on that upward curve."

Morison also admits he has no complaints over Jordan Hugill's disallowed goal, which was chalked off for a foul from Uche Ikpeazu in the build-up.

"Seeing it back, Uche runs in their centre-half, who's going to go for the ball, doesn't mean to run into him but he does and yeah, it's a foul.

"Initially you only see it once and it's a split second, you don't really know what's going on. But we get the opportunity to see it again when we come back in. It's a foul."

Cardiff return to action on Wednesday night with Stoke City the visitors to the capital.
