'That's the most important thing' - Mark Lawrenson makes Bournemouth v Liverpool prediction

Mark Lawrenson believes that Liverpool's tightened-up defence will be key to Jurgen Klopp's side securing an away win at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Reds can temporarily move into the Premier League top four for the first time this season if they can claim three points against the Cherries on the south coast in the lunch-time kick-off, before Tottenham have the chance to respond against Nottingham Forest at 3pm.

Only a few weeks ago, Liverpool lay 10th in the table, with their hopes of qualifying for next year's Champions League appearing to be in tatters, but a run of four wins and a draw in their last five matches has been achieved without conceding a single goal and former Red Lawrenson thinks that will give the recharged Reds the edge at the Vitality Stadium.

Klopp's team will also head into the weekend on the back of an historic 7-0 win against old rivals Manchester United, which sent shockwaves through the Premier League.

Writing in his Paddy Power weekly prediction column, he said: "Liverpool just need to win this by hook or by crook and then a good run of form can take effect. They just looked so much better against Manchester United. It was a freak result but they thoroughly deserved it.

"They’ve started keeping clean sheets and that’s the most important thing. Bournemouth were on the brink of a mad result against Arsenal but they’re going down, you can’t conceded that many goals."

Lawrenson went on to predict that Liverpool would win the match 2-0. History suggests that by forecasting an away victory, he should not be too far off the mark. The Reds have not lost against the Cherries, home or away, since December 2016.
