'That’s f****** Ewan McGregor': Scottish star surprises camper on trip to Euros

EWAN McGregor has wished Scotland good luck at the Euros after a chance meeting with a Tartan Army fan on his way to the competition.

John McIntosh, who is travelling to Germany for the Euros in a customised Tartan Army campervan, said he was shocked to run into the Trainspotting star while disembarking from a ferry to Amsterdam.

McIntosh told STV: “I set off on Friday and got the ferry on the same night, arriving in Amsterdam on Saturday morning.

“I got off and was going through passport control and there was two guys, motorcyclists in front of me, both decked out in helmets and goggles.

“He was gesturing to me to come and speak to him. He took his goggles off and I’m looking at it him going: ‘That’s f****** Ewan McGregor.

“I drove over and he was more surprised to see the van than I was to see him. He was like ‘Wow, what is this? This is incredible’.”

McIntosh then took a quick video with the Scots actor and his friend and TV co-star Charley Boorman.

In the clip, McGregor said: “Alright Scotland, good luck at the Euros. Woo hoo.”

He added, gesturing to the campervan: “Look out for Elvis here.”

McIntosh told STV that his 1960s Volkswagen van, topped with a special Scotland Tartan Army decal, had been called “Elvis”.

Famous faces including John McGinn, Andy Robertson, and Steve Clarke are included in the van’s decoration.

McIntosh said he plans to travel around Germany to watch all of Scotland’s group games.

The opening match of the tournament will see Scotland play hosts Germany on Friday night.
