Thanks to Kendrick Lamar, bootcut jeans for men are trending. Here’s our pick of the best

This year’s Superbowl wasn’t all about American football. Sure, the game was pretty important (congrats to the Philadelphia Eagles etc etc), but what really set the internet alight was Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show performance.

Partly for the Drake diss. Partly for Serena Williams’ shuffle. Partly for Samuel L Jackson dressed as Uncle Sam. But mainly for what he was wearing on his bottom half – a pair of expertly cut bootcut jeans.

The following day, my TikTok feed was full of countless users begging to find out where they could get some themselves. Well, the good news is that you can get the exact pair. They’re by luxury French house Celine, a favourite of everyone from Timothée Chalamet to Eddie Redmayne and Cillian Murphy. The only snag? They’ll set you back £830.

But we’ve got some good news – you don’t have to spend nearly a grand to cop a quality pair. Though the silhouette is an early-00s throwback (not to mention a Seventies staple, before they slowly morphed into flares), it’s been on the up for a couple of seasons thanks to Pharrell Williams’ tenure as men’s creative director of Louis Vuitton. Ever since his first show (Spring/Summer 2024), bootcut jeans (which he personally wears regularly) have become a signature for the house – so, naturally, you can now get them from high street stores and luxury labels alike.

Our top tip? Try to avoid going too retro with the rest of your ‘fit or else risk looking a little Starsky & Hutch. Instead, follow the lead of Williams and Lamar and style them in more contemporary ways – with a work jacket and trainers or a Harrington and loafers. If you’re after more inspo, just take a look at the latest Vuitton menswear collection for style cues.

Without further ado, check out the best styles available to buy now below.
