Third teen charged over murders of two 16-year-olds in Thamesmead

A third person has been charged with murder following the deaths of two 16-year-old in southeast London.

Hussain Bah, 18, of southeast London was arrested on December 2. He was appearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on December 3 charged with the murders of Charlie Bartolo and Kearne Solanke, police said.

Kearne was stabbed in Titmuss Avenue, Thamesmead, while Charlie was found in Sewell Road, Abbey Wood, on November 26. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

On Friday, the Met Police charged two males aged 16 and 15. They appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Friday and were remanded into youth custody until they appear at the Old Bailey on December 6.

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, welcomed the developments but said police still want to hear from anyone with information following the charges on Friday.

“Today is another step forward in our investigation into this shocking incident but I would reiterate my appeal to anyone who has information about the events that resulted in the deaths of Charlie and Kearne to come forward and speak to police,” she said.

Separately, a 16-year-old boy who was also arrested on November 27 on suspicion of both murders and has now been released on bail pending further enquiries. He is due back to a south London police station in February 2023.
