The Thai women's volleyball team lost to Germany on Wednesday in the second successive defeat in the second round of the FIVB Championship in Lodz, Poland.

The Germans led the Thais 25-19, 25-22 before Thailand took the third at 25-18. But the Germans took the fourth 25-23.

The Thais began their second-round campaign with a loss to Canada on Tuesday. They will have a break on Thursday before wrapping up the second round with games against Serbia on Friday and the USA on Saturday.

Thailand's ultimate goal is their first berth in the Olympics in Paris in 2024, with slots for 11 teams at stake, plus an automatic berth for host France. The qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Games will take place in September and October next year.

Twenty-four teams defined by the FIVB rankings will be eligible for the qualifying rounds. The rankings for the women's teams will be announced on Oct 17 this year.
