Thai princess in line to throne has devastating heart attack while out jogging

Heir to the Thai throne Princess Bajrakitiyabha is “unlikely to recover” after suffering a heart attack, it has been claimed.

King Vajiralongkorn is said to have flown by helicopter to be with his daughter who became ill in Khao Yai, north east of Bangkok while walking her dogs.

In a statement on her official Facebook page, the Thai Royal Household confirmed the Princess had become "ill and lost consciousness" due to a "heart condition".

Her medical team treated her at Pak Chong Nana Hospital 100 miles northeast of Bangkok.

Medics said the princess was "stabilised to a certain extent" before being transported to a Red Cross facility for a "detailed physical examination", the household added.

The princess was reportedly out running with her dogs in the Khao Yai national park when she collapsed.

Statements from the Thai palace can be vague or even cryptic, and the single bulletin shared this morning doesn't clearly indicate how serious the suspected heart attack was, the BBC reported.

It also failed to detail the princess's current condition.

Citing unnamed sources, the BBC yesterday reported CPR was carried out “for more than an hour” but Princess BajrakItiyabha could not be revived.

She was put on an oxygen machine and was being artificially kept alive, he added.

Mr MacGregor Marshall tweeted : “Some sources are saying that despite CPR being carried out for more than an hour, there was no response and she has been put on an ECMO machine, which basically means she is dead but being artificially kept alive.”

Three large military helicopters were also reportedly seen returning to Bangkok from Khao Yai unusually late at night on Wednesday.

It is thought that she was first taken to Pak Chong Nana Hospital where CPR was unsuccessful and that was were the King also went via helicopter to see his daughter.

From there she was taken to Bangkok Hospital for the ECMO treatment with witnesses reportedly seeing a hospital helicopter flanked by two military choppers.

“Royal sources say the prognosis for the princess is very grim and it’s very unlikely she will ever recover. But she could potentially be kept artificially alive via ECMO for weeks or even months while the regime figures out what to do," tweeted Mr MacGregor Marshall.

"These events have huge repercussions for the Thai monarchy because it was assumed Bajrakitiyabha would be the next monarch, or would be regent for her younger half-brother Dipangkorn who has autism and will not be able to reign alone."

There has been no official news on the health of the princess despite many hours now of rumours and speculation on social media.

The Mirror has contacted the Thai Royal Family for comment.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha is the Thai public's royal sweetheart, with her previously having been expected to take over from King Vajiralongkorn after his death.

She is his eldest child and daughter of his first wife, Princess Soamsawali.

The princess is a senior officer of her dad's personal guard and has been a part of his inner circle since his succession in 2016.

She is the most successful of the inner group, with several degrees including Master's degrees from leading US university, Cornell.
