On Thursday, a heartwarming development unfolded as hostages, including Thai nationals, were released from captivity in Gaza. Among those freed was Pongsak Tanna, whose father, Wilas Tanna, expressed his overwhelming emotions at the news. Wilas Tanna shared that his son was part of the group released in Khan Younis and described the feeling as 'indescribable.'
Pongsak Tanna, who was working on a farm, was captured by Hamas on October 7, adding to the distress of his family. Wilas Tanna revealed his intention for his son to enter monkhood upon his return, citing a Thai belief that it could dispel any lingering bad luck.
Another hostage, Surasak Lamnao, was also among those released, bringing immense relief to his mother, Kammee Lamnao. Overjoyed by the news, Kammee Lamnao expressed her speechlessness and long-awaited anticipation for this day. She mentioned plans to visit a temple and make merit, hoping to shield her family from any future misfortune.
While the names of the other three Thai nationals released have not been confirmed by Israel, the group of five hostages was accompanied by two Israelis, Arbel Yehoud and Gadi Mozes, in their liberation in Khan Younis.
