Thai hostages released by Hamas: A diplomatic success story

Thailand has welcomed the return of a majority of its citizens who'd been held captive in Gaza, while also observing a minute of silence for the 39 others killed during the October 7 Hamas attacks. Thais made up the largest non-Israeli group among the hostages. In order to recover some of these migrant workers, the government turned to Iran for support. We tell you more.

Since the Israel-Hamas war began, huge amounts of false information and Islamophobic remarks have been coming out of India. The conflict in the Middle East has inflamed Hindu extremists there, who vent their hatred of Muslims under the guise of support for Israel. With just months to go before parliamentary elections, many people are accusing PM Narendra Modi's BJP of using the war for political gain, as our correspondents report. 

Over in Pakistan, authorities have launched a vast operation to turn back illegal migrants, mainly some 2 million Afghans who are living without papers. At least 600,000 of them have arrived since the Taliban's takeover in August 2021. But there are also those who have lived in Pakistan for decades and are now living in fear and uncertainty amid daily police raids in their neighbourhoods. Our team on the ground went to meet some of them. 

Finally, in South Korea, a proposed ban on dog meat has those in the industry up in arms. Dog farmers and restaurant owners are demanding that the government scrap the proposed bill that would end a centuries-old custom on the Korean peninsula. We take a closer look.
