The Thai embassy in Warsaw has evacuated both Thais and Filipinos from Ukraine, with more Thais due to arrive home on Saturday morning.

Only one Thai who wants to leave is unable to. That person is stranded in the city of Severodonetsk, which is near the eastern border in a pro-Russian separatist zone not controlled by the Ukraine government.

The Foreign Ministry said on Friday that a fourth group of 16 Thai evacuees would board a Thai Airways International flight in Bucharest, Romania, on Friday and was scheduled to arrive at Suvarnabhumi airport at 6.50am on Saturday.

A fifth group, of 45 Thais, was due to leave Warsaw, Poland, on an Emirates flight on Friday and touch down in Thailand at 12.05pm on Saturday.

The Thai embassy in Warsaw had already brought six Thais out of Mykolaiv to the Ukrainian port of Odessa in the south of Ukraine. The Thai embassy in Bucharest would help them and six other Thaise who had now decided to return home get to Romania on Saturday, the ministry said.

The embassy in Warsaw would also evacuate 14 more Thais who were at the assistance centre in Lviv, western Ukraine, to Poland on Saturday. They would leave for Thailand on Sunday.

There had been 256 Thai people in Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion and 203 were being evacuated. Only one Thai who wanted evacuation was stranded - at Severodonetsk, where it was too dangerous to travel.

The ministry also said the embassy in Warsaw had brought 15 Filipinos out of Ukraine to Warsaw on Wednesday.
