The SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, is undergoing renovations to host the TGL league's inaugural matches in January 2025. The high-tech indoor team golf league, backed by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, had to delay its launch due to the collapse of the dome section of its custom-built South Florida arena.
The league features six teams of PGA Tour golfers and is set to debut on the first three Tuesday nights of January 2025. The SoFi Center's dome, which deflated in November 2024, now boasts a more durable steel-supported structure.
The venue spans 250,000 square feet with 1,500 seats surrounding the field of play, equivalent to a football field in size. It offers unique features like 'Screenplay,' where players hit into a massive screen, and 'Greenplay,' a 40-yard-wide short game complex with adjustable greens.
Teams will compete in 15-hole matches designed for a 2-hour primetime broadcast window. All players will wear microphones for live broadcasts, incorporating technologies like a 40-second shot clock and advanced shot data displays within the arena.
The six TGL teams include Atlanta Drive, Boston Common Golf, Jupiter Links Golf Club, Los Angeles Golf Club, TGL New York, and TGL San Francisco. Each team comprises four PGA Tour players, with three competing in each match.
Notable players available for the remaining 12 TGL team spots include Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tom Kim, Cameron Young, Min Woo Lee, Rickie Fowler, Shane Lowry, and Kevin Kisner.
