Teyah Goldie signs first professional Arsenal contract

Arsenal have confirmed that Teyah Goldie has signed her first professional contract with the club.

Goldie, who turns 18 years old today, has agreed on a long-term deal with the north London club - 11 years after joining the team's youth setup. The talented defender has made six first-team appearances for the Gunners to date, starring during a spell with Watford last season after joining the Championship outfit on a dual-registration agreement back in January 2022.

Goldie even won the club’s Player of the Month award for February before sustaining a knee injury in March that eventually cut her season short. Still, she has now signed her first professional contract with Arsenal and head coach Jonas Eidevall has made it no secret of his admiration for her ability.

Speaking to the club's official media team, Eidevall said: “It’s great news that Teyah has signed her first professional contract with us. Our academy has a long tradition of producing talented players for the first team and we all believe that Teyah has the potential to follow that path.”

Goldie also gave her reaction, admitting that she is excited for a bright future in north London. “It feels unbelievable to finally be signing with the club that I love and that I’ve been with all my life almost,” she added. “I’m absolutely delighted.

"I don’t think I can really put it into words. It’s something that I’ve always dreamed of and now it’s become a reality – I just can’t wait to get going. I’m a Gooner myself so to actually sign here, for the club that I love and support, is just incredible.”

Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley added: “We’re delighted that Teyah has committed her future to us through her first professional contract. She has shown impressive development in recent years and follows the likes of Leah Williamson and Lotte Wubben-Moy in coming through our renowned academy and into the first-team set-up, where we have high hopes for her future progression.”
