police

A shooting incident at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, resulted in two fatalities and six injuries, including two children, on Saturday night. The tragic event occurred around 11 p.m. during a Juneteenth celebration, located approximately 19 miles north of Austin.

According to Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks, the violence erupted between two groups attending a concert at the event, leading to gunfire. The two individuals who lost their lives were not part of the initial altercation.

The shooting took place near a vendor area, separate from the concert stage. Prompt action was taken by police officers and fire department personnel present at the scene, who provided immediate medical assistance to the wounded victims. Subsequently, all six injured individuals, comprising four adults and two children, were rushed to local trauma centers with potentially severe injuries.

As of now, law enforcement has not apprehended any suspects, and the exact number of shooters involved remains unknown. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities working diligently to gather more information.

Expressing his dismay over the situation, Chief Banks remarked, 'It breaks your heart for a family that was coming out to enjoy their evening and now their life is forever changed as a result of somebody who could care less about somebody else's life.'
