On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott announced that 400 more members of the Texas National Guard are being sent to the US-Mexico border to collaborate with US Border Patrol agents. These specially trained soldiers, part of the Tactical Border Force established in 2023, will depart from bases in Fort Worth and Houston using C-130 transport planes and Chinook helicopters.
In a written statement, Governor Abbott expressed confidence in the partnership with the White House to enhance border security efforts. Last week, he reached out to congressional leaders seeking reimbursement for the over $11 billion spent by Texas on border operations since 2022.

Operation Lone Star, led by the Texas National Guard, is an ongoing initiative at the border. Currently, approximately 4,500 National Guardsmen are involved in this mission, as reported by the Texas Military Department.
