A Texas man has been arrested after allegedly strangling his wife to death in a fit of rage and dumping her body in Mexico, following the discovery of her in a hotel room with another man.

Jorge Mares Raygoza, 47, and his wife, Coral Llamas Sifuentes, 45, had been living apart—he resided in Hobbs, New Mexico, while she stayed in El Paso, Texas, with their children, according to People.

Raygoza worked weekdays in New Mexico and regularly visited El Paso on weekends to spend time with his family. On March 18, 2025, Raygoza discovered that his wife had allegedly been involved in a two-year affair and caught her in a hotel bed with another man.

On March 21, Raygoza confronted Sifuentes about the affair. He later confessed to strangling her in a violent outburst that lasted roughly 30 minutes.

After killing her, Raygoza reportedly dressed her, placed her body in the backseat of her car, and proceeded to attend a job interview. Surveillance footage captured him crossing into Juarez, Mexico, through the Ysleta Port of Entry with her vehicle and returning to the U.S. shortly after.

He allegedly destroyed her phone and smartwatch in an effort to cover up the crime. On March 22, Sifuentes' body was discovered on a highway in Juarez by Mexican authorities.

She had died from asphyxiation by strangulation, according to the Chihuahua Attorney General's Office. The FBI was later notified of the discovery and contacted El Paso police, prompting a joint investigation.

Raygoza was arrested on March 28, 2025, and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $1.25 million bond. Authorities confirmed his involvement through both his confession and surveillance footage.
