Texas Man Begs Porch Pirate to Return Package With One-of-a-Kind Token to Late Grandfather Inside: 'You Never Know What You're Taking From Someone'

Texas porch pirates made off with a very personal item.

Texas porch pirates might have thought they were simply getting an ordinary package, but they were actually stealing something much more personal to Alex Moffitt, according to a report.

Moffitt's grandfather served in the Korean War. Inside the package was a custom-made teddy bear, created from the fabric from his late grandfather's shirt, ABC-8 reported.

"You never know what you're taking from someone," Moffitt told the station. "Just bring it back."

Moffitt's grandfather died last year. The shirt used in creating the teddy bear was one he wore on an Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C., the station reported. Moffitt's grandfather was a combat veteran.

Honor Flights are offered to veterans through non-profits, taking veterans to the nation's memorials in Washington D.C. tohonor their service.

"My grandfather was a very forgiving man, and I want to walk in his footsteps.I want the opportunity to prove to him that I can be as forgiving," Moffitt told ABC-8. "My grandfather was the purest human on Earth. The time that we had with him was a miracle and a blessing to begin with."
