An inmate serving a 20-year sentence for crimes including burglary and robbery managed to escape from a prison in Angleton, Texas, only to be captured shortly after.
The escape was discovered during a routine count at the Clemens Unit trusty camp when 33-year-old Kidanny Robles was found to be missing. It was determined that Robles had walked away from the facility, which housed inmates requiring a lower level of supervision.
Local and state law enforcement, in collaboration with the Office for the Inspector General, initiated a search for Robles. Approximately 10 hours later, he was located just three miles from the prison.
As a result of the escape, all visitation at the prison was canceled to allow staff members to assist in the search efforts.
Law enforcement officials confronted Robles, instructing him to stop, but he refused. Subsequently, a captain from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice fired a shot, injuring Robles in the arm.
Robles was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated robbery, robbery, and burglary of a habitat in Bexar County. Additionally, he had a 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance in Nueces County from 2022.
