Texans vs. Saints live blog: 20-13 Houston, FINAL

The Houston Texans get back in action as they welcome the New Orleans Saints to NRG Stadium for Week 6.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud has an impressive attempts without an interception streak alive at 186 — not a bad way to start a career. However, that will be tested against a Saints defense that is tied for the third-most interceptions in the league with seven.

Pregame

Among the inactives are WR Tank Dell. CB Tavierre Thomas is also down again.

First quarter

15:00 — New Orleans wins the toss but defers to the second half. Houston gets the ball first.

13:38 — On a third-and-6 from the Texans’ 13-yard line, Stroud connects with TE Dalton Schultz for 19 yards.

11:28 — Houston’s drive stalls as Stroud can’t connect with WR Noah Brown deep on a third-and-5 from the Texans’ 48.

6:44 — K Blake Grupe pushes a field goal wide right. Otherwise the Saints’ offense was dealing as they drove 46 yards in nine plays.

6:05 — Stroud’s interception-less streak comes to an end at 192. However, WR Nico Collins comes to Stroud’s rescue and knocks the ball out of LB Zack Baun’s hand and LG Tytus Howard recovers at the Houston 41.

3:45 — Stroud throws a 1-yard touchdown pass to Schultz. K Ka’imi Fairbairn’s extra point is good. 7-0, Texans

0:18 — QB Derek Carr throws a 34-yard touchdown pass to WR Rashid Shaheed. Extra point is good. 7-7

Second quarter

10:38 — On a third-and-3 from the Saints’ 5-yard line, Stroud throws incomplete looking for Brown.

9:07 — S Eric Murray is questionable to return with a knee injury.

3:46 — RB Dameon Pierce may have been jobbed. On a second-and-goal from the Saints’ 5-yard line, Pierce was getting enveloped by defenders but still churning his legs and not quite in the grasp. Nevertheless the officials blew the play dead for a loss of a yard.

2:59 — Stroud throws a 6-yard touchdown pass to WR Robert Woods. Extra point is good. 17-7, Texans

0:21 — Grupe hits a 48-yard field goal. 17-10, Texans
